Jirga reaches Tirah Valley

LAHORE/PESHAWAR: A tribal jirga has reached the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency and will meet Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) chief Mangal Bagh to discuss the restoration of peace in Bara, a private television channel reported on Monday. According to Dawn News, the jirga will present the government’s demands to Bagh, which were finalised in a meeting in Peshawar on Sunday. An 18-member jirga had met government officials to initiate the peace process, the channel said. The channel said that the government had demanded the LI chief to hand over 60 of his outfit’s “most wanted” men. daily times monitor
